In her current role as Senior Vice President of Outpatient Services\, Anna provides supervision and support to all programs in the Outpatient Clinic\, including the Director of the Heart-to Heart Program\, Behavioral-Health Community Partners\, and Recovery Coaching Services. She currently serves as the Human Rights Officer at BSCS.  Anna obtained her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University and her Master of Business Administration with a concentration in healthcare management from Northeastern University. She received her Licensed Mental Health Counselor licensure in 2007.

DESCRIPTION:Person-Centered Care is a philosophy and set of strategies that seeks to minimize harm associated with high-risk behaviors while supporting positive\, incremental behavior change. This approach believes all people are capable of change and will do so when they are ready and when circumstances allow. It uses compassion\, dignity\, respect\, and consistent positive regard to promote healing and long-term recovery. This training will include a review of the basic principles and practices of person-centered care for addiction\, an overview of why it works\, sample person-centered strategies\, and interactive activities to enhance learning. \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify the core tenants of the person-centered approach\nExplain why a person-centered approach for addiction works to increase recovery outcomes\nDescribe high-risk behaviors and corresponding person-centered strategies\nExplain how motivational conversations play a key role in the person-centered approach\n\n  \nLearn more and register. \n  \nTrainer: \nElizabeth Black\, LADC\, has spent her career working with and on behalf of people with behavioral health disorders. She holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Elizabeth serves as subject matter expert\, trainer\, and technical assistance provider for behavioral health and recovery initiatives.  Her areas of interest and expertise include harm reduction\, medication for opioid use disorder\, rural healthcare systems\, and health and wellness in recovery.  Prior to her current role at C4 innovations\, she worked for the Department of Mental Health for the state of Oklahoma for over a decade. In her work there\, she oversaw the implementation of health and wellness interventions into behavioral health services statewide. In that role\, her team received a governor’s commendation for their work which resulted in better health outcomes in Oklahoma’s most vulnerable communities. She currently resides in Quincy\, MA.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the high prevalence of trauma in persons served\, healing-centered care becomes an essential piece of all effective services. This training provides an overview of the prevalence and impact of trauma\, neurobiology of trauma\, and best practices in delivering healing-centered care. The session emphasizes how healing-centered care is not a technique\, but a shift in mindset that guides every interaction\, policy\, and practice for staff at all levels. Attendees will learn practical strategies for creating safer\, more supportive spaces which support and promote long-term healing. \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nDefine trauma and its impact\nExplain how trauma can impact participation and engagement in services\nIdentify SAMHSA’s key assumptions and principles of delivering healing-centered care\nIdentify actionable strategies that work to make interactions and environments supportive to trauma survivors\n\n  \nLearn more and register. \n  \nTrainer \nEileen Hayes\, LICSW\, has been the President and CEO of Amos House since January 2001. Throughout her tenure\, she has helped grow the agency from a soup kitchen to a major social service agency that offers programs and services to individuals facing poverty\, hunger\, and homelessness. Under her leadership\, Amos House launched two social enterprises: More Than a Meal Catering and Amos House Builds. Both businesses employ graduates of its training programs and generate income to support the organization. During her time at Amos House\, she expanded its housing portfolio to 22 apartments and rooming houses that offer safe\, recovery housing for over 200 men\, women\, and families. During the pandemic\, Eileen and her team were on the front lines managing a warming center for over 200 individuals a night. In response to the increase in unhoused individuals and families\, Eileen opened a family shelter with 57 families and over 150 children\, as well as a shelter for older adults with special health needs. She received her Master’s in Social Work at NYU in 1984 and has spent her life’s work engaged in program design and implementation focused on strengthening individuals and families. She is a well-known trainer and facilitator in topics focused on trauma-informed interventions including trauma-informed care\, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)\, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Currently\, Scott is an active member of the Copeland Center Board\, a certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist\, and an enthusiast for Taking Action for Whole Health and Wellbeing. Scott is working on Wellness on Wheels\, a project that supports holistic wellness and utilizes small\, meaningful steps known as “micro-wellness” to move towards the life people want for themselves. Scott has combined his love of travel and biking for the goal of cycling the circumference of the lower 48\, and visiting the four corners\, one section at a time. This Fall\, he is pedaling from Lubec\, Maine to New Bern\, North Carolina.\n\n  \nKatie Wilson is Chief Operations Officer at the Copeland Center and came to the Copeland Center after working with Mary Ellen Copeland\, Ph.D. Over the past decade\, Katie has worked to guide systems and organizational leaders to implement the evidence-based practice of peer group model programs as well as help tailor wellness and recovery programs using the Copeland Center’s network of trained educators for their organizational recovery events and services. Katie produces and hosts Doors to Wellbeing’s popular monthly Peer Specialist Webinar Series serving over 30\,000 peer specialists each year. Katie is a popular speaker and trainer. Recently\, she has presented at the following conferences: Peerpocalyse\, VT Dept of Mental Health Conference\, Peerpalooza\, National Association for Peer Supporter Annual Conference\, Peer Support Coalition of PA Annual Conference\, and NYC Conference for Working Peer Specialists. Katie has worked for Marlboro College’s MBA program in Managing for Sustainability and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. Formerly\, Scott was the Director of Recovery Services at Sweetser with responsibilities for the Peer Support Specialist in the Emergency Department at Mid Coast Hospital seven days a week\, 24/7 statewide peer Intentional Warm Line\, Intentional Peer Support integrated into ACT and Behavioral Health Home Teams\, and state-wide Peer Training Network. Currently\, Scott is an active member of the Copeland Center Board\, a certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist\, and an enthusiast for Taking Action for Whole Health and Wellbeing. Scott is working on Wellness on Wheels\, a project that supports holistic wellness and utilizes small\, meaningful steps known as “micro-wellness” to move towards the life people want for themselves. Scott has combined his love of travel and biking for the goal of cycling the circumference of the lower 48\, and visiting the four corners\, one section at a time. This Fall\, he is pedaling from Lubec\, Maine to New Bern\, North Carolina.\n\n  \nKatie Wilson is Chief Operations Officer at the Copeland Center and came to the Copeland Center after working with Mary Ellen Copeland\, Ph.D. Over the past decade\, Katie has worked to guide systems and organizational leaders to implement the evidence-based practice of peer group model programs as well as help tailor wellness and recovery programs using the Copeland Center’s network of trained educators for their organizational recovery events and services. Katie produces and hosts Doors to Wellbeing’s popular monthly Peer Specialist Webinar Series serving over 30\,000 peer specialists each year. Katie is a popular speaker and trainer. Recently\, she has presented at the following conferences: Peerpocalyse\, VT Dept of Mental Health Conference\, Peerpalooza\, National Association for Peer Supporter Annual Conference\, Peer Support Coalition of PA Annual Conference\, and NYC Conference for Working Peer Specialists. Katie has worked for Marlboro College’s MBA program in Managing for Sustainability and the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. Katie received her BA from Bennington College and her master’s degree from New York University’s Center for Global Affairs where she studied international human rights and mental health.

DESCRIPTION:The Copeland Center’s Taking Action for Whole Health & Wellbeing course is a co-facilitated group process that supports individuals in creating a personalized system for recovering\, sustaining\, and improving their whole health outcomes. The curriculum is based on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s (SAMHSA) Taking Action curriculum and other recovery publications developed with input from individuals with lived experience of recovery from mental health\, addictions\, and co-occurring challenges. \n  \nThe program integrates evidence-based and experiential peer-to-peer strategies that have demonstrated effectiveness through research and provider feedback. The course is led by two trained peer co-facilitators following the Copeland Center’s evidence-based and experiential peer engagement strategies\, incorporating over two decades of experience. DESCRIPTION:As we have come to understand the role of trauma in behavioral health conditions\, we know that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) can leave lasting imprints on the body\, brain\, and behavior. This training offers a comprehensive introduction to the ACEs framework\, an exploration of the original groundbreaking study\, and an overview of best practices in identifying and mitigating ACEs to support health\, healing\, and happiness in those we serve. \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nDescribe key findings and implications of the original ACE Study\nExplore the updated ACE Pyramid and how it maps the trajectory from trauma to outcomes in adulthood\nIdentify best practices for supporting prevention\, healing\, and resilience in the people we serve\n\n  \nLearn more and register. \n  \nTrainer \nEileen Hayes\, LICSW\, has been the President and CEO of Amos House since January 2001. Throughout her tenure\, she has helped grow the agency from a soup kitchen to a major social service agency that offers programs and services to individuals facing poverty\, hunger\, and homelessness. Under her leadership\, Amos House launched two social enterprises: More Than a Meal Catering and Amos House Builds. Both businesses employ graduates of its training programs and generate income to support the organization. During her time at Amos House\, she expanded its housing portfolio to 22 apartments and rooming houses that offer safe\, recovery housing for over 200 men\, women\, and families. During the pandemic\, Eileen and her team were on the front lines managing a warming center for over 200 individuals a night. In response to the increase in unhoused individuals and families\, Eileen opened a family shelter with 57 families and over 150 children\, as well as a shelter for older adults with special health needs. She received her Master’s in Social Work at NYU in 1984 and has spent her life’s work engaged in program design and implementation focused on strengthening individuals and families. She is a well-known trainer and facilitator in topics focused on trauma-informed interventions including trauma-informed care\, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)\, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
