DESCRIPTION:This training will include a review of the basic principles and practices of harm reduction\, an overview of why it works\, sample harm reduction strategies\, and interactive activities to enhance learning. Harm reduction is a philosophy and set of strategies that seeks to minimize harm associated with high-risk behaviors while supporting positive\, incremental behavior change. She holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Ms. Black serves as subject matter expert\, trainer\, and technical assistance provider for behavioral health and recovery initiatives.  Her areas of interest and expertise include harm reduction\, medication for opioid use disorder\, rural healthcare systems\, and health and wellness in recovery.  Prior to her current role at C4 innovations\, Ms. Black worked for the Department of Mental Health for the state of Oklahoma for over a decade. In her work there\, she oversaw the implementation of health and wellness interventions into behavioral health services statewide. In that role\, her team received a governor’s commendation for their work which resulted in better health outcomes in Oklahoma’s most vulnerable communities. She currently resides in Quincy\, MA.

Under her leadership\, Amos House launched two social enterprises\, More Than a Meal Catering and Amos House Builds. Both businesses employ graduates of its training programs and generate income to support the organization. During her time at Amos House\, she expanded its housing portfolio to 22 apartments and rooming houses that offer safe\, recovery housing for over 200 men\, women\, and families. During the pandemic\, Eileen and her team were on the front lines managing a warming center for over 200 individuals a night. In response to the increase in unhoused individuals and families\, Eileen opened a family shelter with 57 families and over 150 children\, as well as a shelter for older adults with special health needs. She received her Master’s in Social Work at NYU in 1984 and has spent her life’s work engaged in program design and implementation focused on strengthening individuals and families. She is a well-known trainer and facilitator in topics focused on trauma informed interventions including Trauma-Informed Care\, ACES\, DBT and MI.

DESCRIPTION:Join the beta test of RI Department of Behavioral Health\, Developmental Disabilities\, and Hospitals Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Supervisor Training of Trainers. To participate\, please fill out this application by August 29. \nAfter you submit this application\, someone from RI Department of Behavioral Health\, Developmental Disabilities\, and Hospitals or C4 Innovations will be in touch outlining next steps no later than September 5. \nIn the spirit of full transparency\, we can only accept 15 people and are giving priority to those who are currently supervising peers at programs who receive Medicaid reimbursements for CPRS services and those that attended a CPRS Supervisor training. \nParticipants who attend and participate in all training sessions will receive proof they’ve completed the Training of Trainer training. Please note that attendance does not guarantee a certification or approval to train.
