SUMMARY:HIPAA/Ethics Training
DESCRIPTION:This training provides a comprehensive overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the ethical standards in Rhode Island that guide professional practice for providers. Participants will learn how to protect privacy\, maintain confidentiality\, and navigate complex situations using ethical guidelines. Through real-world scenarios and interactive discussion\, this training equips participants to make informed\, ethical decisions that uphold both professional integrity and the rights of those they serve. \n  \nLearning Objectives \n\nDefine key principles of HIPAA and professional ethics in RI\nDescribe the process for ethical decision making\nIdentify common threats to good ethical care in behavioral health\nIdentify and describe client rights\nApply HIPAA and ethical guidelines to real world case studies\n\n  \nTrainer \nAnna Erdei\, MBA\, MA\, LMHC\, joined Bay State Community Services (BSCS) in August 2020 and is responsible for overseeing the Outpatient Clinic\, Behavioral Health Community Partner )(BHCP) program\, and criminal justice and correctional programs. In her current role as Senior Vice President of Outpatient Services\, Anna provides supervision and support to all programs in the Outpatient Clinic\, including the Director of the Heart-to Heart Program\, Behavioral-Health Community Partners\, and Recovery Coaching Services. Anna obtained her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University and her Master of Business Administration with concentration in healthcare management from Northeastern University. She received her Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensure in 2007.

SUMMARY:Person-Centered Care for Addiction: Compassionate Interventions for Effective Recovery Support
DESCRIPTION:Person-Centered Care is a philosophy and set of strategies that seeks to minimize harm associated with high-risk behaviors while supporting positive\, incremental behavior change. This approach believes all people are capable of change and will do so when they are ready and when circumstances allow. It uses compassion\, dignity\, respect\, and consistent positive regard to promote healing and long-term recovery. This training will include a review of the basic principles and practices of person-centered care for addiction\, an overview of why it works\, sample person-centered strategies\, and interactive activities to enhance learning. \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify the core tenants of the person-centered approach\nExplain why a person-centered approach for addiction works to increase recovery outcomes\nDescribe high-risk behaviors and corresponding person-centered strategies\nExplain how motivational conversations play a key role in the person-centered approach\n\n  \nLearn more and register. \n  \nTrainer: \nElizabeth Black\, LADC\, has spent her career working with and on behalf of people with behavioral health disorders. She holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and is a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Elizabeth serves as subject matter expert\, trainer\, and technical assistance provider for behavioral health and recovery initiatives.  Her areas of interest and expertise include harm reduction\, medication for opioid use disorder\, rural healthcare systems\, and health and wellness in recovery.  Prior to her current role at C4 innovations\, she worked for the Department of Mental Health for the state of Oklahoma for over a decade. In her work there\, she oversaw the implementation of health and wellness interventions into behavioral health services statewide. In that role\, her team received a governor’s commendation for their work which resulted in better health outcomes in Oklahoma’s most vulnerable communities. She currently resides in Quincy\, MA.
