Tucker Barker, NBC-HWC (they/he) is Health Equity Coordinator at C4 Innovations and is a board-certified Health and Wellness Coach. They have been involved in community organizing in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina, specifically dedicating their childhood to education reform, restorative justice, and racial justice spheres with two main organizations: Rethink and The Center for Ethical Living and Social Justice Renewal.
From then, Tucker has built a public health background in HIV & HCV counseling, testing and prevention as well as harm reduction experience after working a syringe service program and supporting clients with overdose response training and prevention. They went on to run the patient navigation program for one of the largest gender-affirming care clinics in the Gulf South. In this role, Tucker was able to support gender diverse adults, youth, and families of trans youth with care coordination, crisis management, gender affirming hormone therapy access, legal name and gender marker change, referrals for surgical care, and creating sustainable systems within the clinic to best offer care to these populations.
In his spare time, Tucker is a core member with T.I.D.A.L. (Transgender Inclusive Development Advocacy and Learning), a collective of trans community members that provides cultural humility training focused on intersectional trans-specific care to healthcare organizations, as well as community-based learning opportunities including mutual aid and cementing networks of solidarity. He also engages in legislative advocacy with LocALL, Legislative Organizing for All LGBTQ Louisianans where he expounds on their love for trans and queer liberation.
