American Society of Addiction Medicine 101: A Foundational Overview
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Criteria is the most widely used framework for assessing individuals with substance use disorders and determining appropriate level of care. This training provides an overview of the purpose, dimensions, and best practices of the ASAM criteria. Participants will work to build a practical foundation for effectively using it to guide placement decisions. Participants will learn how the ASAM assessment supports person-centered, strengths-based care and will be given the opportunity to apply the criteria in real-world scenarios to support learning and confidence.

Trainer:
Anna Erdei, MBA, MA, LMHC, joined Bay State Community Services in August 2020 and is responsible for overseeing the Outpatient Clinic, the Behavioral Health Community Partnership program, and the criminal justice and correctional programs. In her current role as Senior Vice President of Outpatient Services, Anna provides supervision and support to all programs in the Outpatient Clinic and is the Director of the Heart-to Heart Program, Behavioral-Health Community Partners, and Recovery Coaching Services. Anna obtained her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University and her MBA with concentration in healthcare management from Northeastern University. She received her Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensure in 2007.
