Examples of Our Work

Addressing the Opioid Overdose Crisis in Massachusetts

The opioid overdose crisis has touched every community in Massachusetts. In response, the Mosaic Opioid Recovery Partnership (Mosaic) funds initiatives addressing opioid overdose in communities and populations that have been historically underserved and have experienced a high rate of opioid-related overdose deaths. As part of Mosaic, C4 is providing training, technical assistance, and capacity building support to community-based and municipal grantees. For community-based grantees, C4 is supporting a wide range of technical assistance, from strategic planning to finance and operations, evaluation and data, communications and marketing, and fundraising and sustainability. For municipalities, C4 is working with a team of regional technical assistance providers to support cities and towns with planning, regional partnerships, community engagement, needs assessments, and the implementation of evidence-based opioid response strategies. Mosaic is funded by the MA Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services and powered by RIZE Massachusetts Foundation. Learn more.

Enhancing Native Behavioral Health

Holly Echo-Hawk, C4’s Tribal Behavioral Health Specialist, and other C4 staff collaborate with  United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc. (USET) and  7 Generations: American Indian and Alaska Native Behavioral Health Center of Excellence  to produce “Reclaiming Native Psychological Brilliance,”  a Tribal Behavioral Health ECHO webinar series. Native Psychological Brilliance refers to the intelligence, strengths, balance, innate resources, and resilience of Native people.

Starting its 4th year in 2026, each webinar in this free series provides participants an opportunity to:

  • Gain skills on strength-based approaches in partnership with Native People to enhance Native behavioral health
  • Discuss ways that Native brilliance is demonstrated and supports behavioral health
  • Learn about Native brilliance examples to share with behavioral health and other health care staff as well as local Tribal Nation citizens
  • Experience Native music videos and spoken word performances

The series is open to Tribal Nation health directors, clinic staff, counselors, social workers, physicians, nurses, Tribal Epidemiology Center staff, and anyone supporting Tribal Nation citizens with health and behavioral health. In 2025, over 1,500 attendees participated from 117 hospitals, health clinics, and treatment centers, 99 Native organizations, 84 schools and universities, 52 federal and state partner organizations, and all 12 of the Tribal Epidemiology Centers.
