C4 and BHDDH are offering refreshers for core behavioral health skills: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). These webinars are meant as refreshers, but are also open to people who are new to these skills and want to jump start their learning.
CBT Booster
Reconnecting with CBT: Core Skills for Behavioral Health
This booster re-grounds participants in the core mechanics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and how to put them to work in everyday practice. Participants will revisit the cognitive model, refresh their ability to recognize unhelpful thinking patterns, and practice concrete techniques they can bring into sessions, check-ins, and skills-coaching moments. The session emphasizes practical application across the range of roles in behavioral health, helping each participant translate CBT concepts into the work they actually do.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the cognitive model and explain how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact to influence client functioning and recovery.
2. Identify common cognitive distortions and automatic thoughts that surface in clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
3. Apply at least two cognitive restructuring or behavioral activation techniques (e.g., thought records, behavioral scheduling) in session or in supportive interactions.
4. Adapt brief, CBT-informed strategies to fit their specific role, population, and treatment setting.
DBT Booster
DBT Skills Refresher: Helping Clients Navigate Distress
This booster reinforces the practical, in-the-moment side of Dialectical Behavior Therapy for professionals supporting clients with intense emotions, crisis behaviors, and interpersonal challenges. Participants will refresh the four skills modules and the acceptance-and-change dialectic at the heart of DBT, then focus on coaching clients through specific skills when it matters most. The session emphasizes real-world application across the range of behavioral health roles, helping each participant apply these skills in a way that fits their work.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Revisit DBT foundations with an advanced lens
2. Explore areas clinicians may overlook or apply automatically
3. Surface common gaps and critical cultural considerations
4. Integrate emerging practices for deepened therapeutic impact
